My name is Marie Blythe and I have worked with children and families for over fifteen years in a range of settings and roles across Middlesbrough and the North East of England.

Initially I set out to become a teacher, though I quickly realised that I was drawn to helping children and young people who were experiencing emotional difficulties and needed support beyond their educational development.

I trained as a Play Therapist and have had many fantastic opportunities to work with and learn from numerous profesionals along the way.  My journey has involved working in schools as a Learning Mentor, Parent Support Advisor and Play Therapist.  Alongside my work with Footprints I continue to retain my working partnership with Newham Bridge and Newport Primary Schools in Middlesbrough.

I have also been fortunate to work within the voluntary sector for The Junction (Redcar) and Barnardo's (Bridgeway Project).  Within this work I supported young carers and led on the development and delivery of the Barnardo's Emotional Wellbeing Service, Barnardo's Gateway Service for children impacted by domestic abuse and the Barnardo's Young Carers Service.   I continue to work with Barnardo's supporting children and young people impacted by sexual abuse and those displaying sexually harmful behaviour.

It is a real pleasure to also work with The Bungalow Partnership which provides support and guidance to children and families' across Middlesbrough.  The Bungalow Partnership is a needs led Partnership bringing together specialists from the fields of Teaching, Play Therapy, Psychotherapy, Behaviour Support, Mentoring and Parenting Support.  Working in partnership with a number of schools in Middlesbrough The Bungalow Partnership are able to offer early intervention support to those in need.
